Dismantling Racism with Youth

Questions for Reflection

Questions for Reflection for a Black or Racially Mixed Youth Group:

  1. How might we prevent “clinging to” from becoming “white washing” or rejection of POC interpretations of Christianity?

Questions for Reflection for a Predominately White Youth Group:

  1. What does it mean to us to hear Ruth cling to Naomi and to her traditions and faith? What kind of humbling, internal work did Ruth need to do to be able to venture into the unknown in this way?
  2. What does this kind of humble, but strong, accompaniment on Ruth’s part model for us, that is applicable to our work of dismantling racism? Why was this dangerous for Ruth? Is this dangerous for us, too?
  3. Who are our people? Who is our God? And how might that pertain to this work?
