Chapter, Verse, and Season. A New Podcast from Yale Bible Study
We are pleased to announce the launch of “Chapter, Verse, and Season: A Lectionary Podcast from Yale Bible Study” on November 22, 2021. We are excited to open yet another avenue for communities, clergy, and laypeople to access the wide variety of expertise and creative thinking that the faculty of the Yale Divinity School has to offer.
According to Center for Continuing Education Director Joel Baden, “We wanted to give listeners an opportunity to overhear the kinds of conversations that take place in the halls of YDS – faculty from different theological disciplines discussing biblical texts in an informal setting, bringing their own interests and ideas to the table, and, hopefully, sparking new understandings and insights into these passages. Speaking for myself, these podcasts are enormously fun and gratifying to record. Talking about the Bible with colleagues from entirely different fields – but with the same dedication to the central questions of interpretation and faith – allowed me, and I hope those listening as well, to see the text through a new, ever-changing lens. We hope you enjoy diving into these discussions, week after week, as much as we enjoyed creating them.”

From the Bible’s instructions to present-day laws and walls, the status of the stranger—the immigrant—has been central to faith communities. What is the role of faith in caring for the strangers in our midst, and what have migrant communities taught us about how to have thriving ministries in today’s world? We’ll approach these questions from both academic and practical perspectives in this colloquium featuring short lectures from faculty and a panel discussion with those working with immigrants in our communities.
