Care for Longer-Lasting Trauma

Overview

Dr. Kim talks about how to explain the Pandemic to youth and what to say to youth who are struggling with loneliness and isolation away from others.

With schools closed in efforts to slow the spread of the Coronavirus, the pandemic has psychologically displaced 1.54 billion students across the globe who are forced to navigate an unprecedented and uncertain reality. The acute impacts of the COVID-19 outbreak are felt by many, if not all, but for youth, the impacts may be felt in a heightened and concentrated way.

Dr. Josephine Kim provides a glimpse into the minds of youth and offers insights to mitigating prolonged impacts of unexpected twists in life.

Dr. Kim has a dual faculty appointment in Prevention Science and Practice/CAS in Counseling programs at the Harvard Graduate School of Education and in the Department of Oral Health Policy and Epidemiology at Harvard School of Dental Medicine.
