Free Lunch + Lecture at Yale Divinity School
Lunch 12:00pm / Lecture 12:30pm EST
Yale Youth Ministry Institute is proud to present our first Lunch + Lecture of the Fall semester, a part of the Joy and Adolescent Faith and Flourishing Series. This afternoon's lecture will feature Dr. Frank Rogers, Professor at Claremont School of Theology and Co-Director and Founder of the Center for Engaged Compassion in Claremont, CA, the Rev. Dr. Christopher Carter, Assistant Professor at the University of San Diego of courses in Christian theology and ethics, Black and Womanist theology, and Christianity and environmental justice, and Dr. Seth Schoen, whose work focuses on Practical Theology and Spiritual Formation at Claremont School of Theology.
In this lecture, the speakers will describe the good life as both grounded empowerment in one’s racial identity, and relationships across racial identities of mutual respect, understanding, and commitment to a world where flourishing is not denied anyone by virtue of race. This lecture will introduce practices that are designed to facilitate compassion-based approaches to difficult conversations around race.
