Stress Awareness Month and National Alcohol Awareness Month
The Yale Youth Ministry Institute offers a wealth of resources for those feeling stressed, depressed, or anxious. Our “Tending to the Mental Health of Adolescents” curriculum covers mental health issues with resources in scripture, video, discussion outlines, reflection questions, and so much more here.
For National Alcohol Awareness Month, we have resources for substance abuse, including videos, articles, scripture, and more here.
YBS Easter and Passover Resources and Bible Study
Watch YDS Prof. Joel Baden and Berkeley Dean Andrew McGowan discuss Passover and Easter as the defining events of Judaism and Christianity, respectively: the Exodus from Egypt and the resurrection of Jesus in A Conversation about Easter and Passover. We also have a 4-week study on the history and evolution of the Passover and Easter holidays here.
As the Lectionary continues in Acts, we recommend you explore the Acts of the Apostles Yale Bible Study. Acts continues with the story of Jesus’ followers and the challenges they experienced immediately following Jesus’ death. This Bible study can be found here.
From the YMI Director: Tending the Adolescent Soul
Just a few days ago, the YMI was pleased to be able to host, “Tending the Adolescent Soul: Offering Hope in an Age of Despair” with guest presenter Mark Yaconelli.
Mark is a consummate storyteller, and story catcher. The importance of both are highlighted in his most recent book, Between the Listening and the Telling: How Stories Can Save Us. It takes a unique set of skills to be able to be a storyteller. But, I would suggest, it takes more attentiveness to be a good story catcher.
See YMI Director Jill Old’s message on Tending the Adolescent Soul.

YDS Learn, Lead, and Inspire Summit 2023
Our newest program, the Learn, Lead, and Inspire Summit, offers participants a chance to spend a week with peers while being guided by faculty from Yale, with opportunities for small group intensive discussions and personally tailored experiences, preparing them to better engage with their communities, their congregations, and their faith. This year’s topic, “The Other”: Defining, Defending, Problematizing, will explore the intended and unintended consequence of categorizing “otherness,” whether it be around race, gender, ethnicity, ability, or other lines of difference.
For more information and to register go to YDS Learn, Lead, Inspire Summit.
YDS Summer Study 2023
This renowned program of study returns online June 5-9, 2023. This year’s schedule includes courses on topics of Faith and Reason, Bible Through Art and Artifact, Romans, music history, Jonathan Edwards sermons, the ethics of love, the Book of Exodus, and the Red (and Blue) Letter Bible.
Summer Study includes a keynote lecture on Tuesday, June 6 with YDS Professor Dr. Donyelle McCray on Pauli Murray’s spirituality and preaching.
Participants receive a YDS Certificate of Completion at the end of the course week. For more information and to register, go to summerstudy.yale.edu.
