This October, we are observing Church Safety and Security Month and LGBTQ+ History Month as well as preparing for the upcoming Presidential election. We have resources on these topics as well as upcoming events on the election, doing the work to be countercultural, developing social media smarts, and intrapersonal conflict management. October is LGBTQ+ History Month, where each year we celebrate the history and achievements of lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender people. At YMI, we have tools and resources to help youth leaders accompany, work with, and support LGBTQ+ young people.

Clergy Well-Being During a Time of Uncertainty: A Report From the Trenches

As communities across the nation consider the issues ahead of the November election, the Center for Public Theology and Public Policy has a new online course that offers videos with group conversations in classrooms, congregations, and community centers. Social Media Smarts: Helping Youth Use New Media in Positive Ways for Good Mental & Spiritual Health with the Rev. Dr. Angela Gorrell Rev. Dr. Gorrell will explain how youth are spending their time online (according to them!) the most important possibilities and pressing challenges of new media and concrete things adults can teach youth (specific do’s and don’ts for their mental well-being and living out their faith as they engage with technology). Intrapersonal Conflict Management: Loving Leadership in Beloved Communities with Ryan Dunlap This training program offers participants a comprehensive examination of the impact of their communication, conduct, and character on others, coupled with a structured framework for personal advancement. Throughout the workshop, attendees will delve into the 3-Core Pillars of the Real Tact Model®, elucidating the roles of self-awareness, self-confidence, and self-control in mitigating their contributions to conflicts.
