On Evangelism and Witness

Rev. Canon Chris Russell discusses his role as advisor to the Archbishop of Canterbury on evangelism and witness after delivering a lecture entitled, “Praise: Being Transformed in Joy,” alongside Dr. David F. Ford at Yale Divinity School on Wednesday February 7, 2018.

Rev. Russell has been the vicar at St. Laurence Church in Reading since 2001 working to build a multi-generational community, with a particular mission amongst young people.

On Belonging

Dr. Michal Beth Dinkler and the Rev. Skip Masback deliver a lecture entitled, “Paul’s Not-so-Secret Secret: Belonging and Christian Freedom in the Midst of Affliction.” Maya Angelou said once in an interview, “You are only free when you realize you belong no place – you belong every place – no place at all. On Idolatry

Dr. James K. A. Smith gave this interview after delivering a lecture entitled, “Looking for Joy in All the Wrong Places: An Augustinian Guide to our Anxieties” alongside Dr. Kyle David Bennett. This lecture considers how the duplex of anxiety and anger—fostered and fomented by the rituals of distraction—are both generators and fruit of idolatries. But we will also consider what it might look like to overcome these inhibitors, to find rest and arrive home to joy.

Peacemaking & Reconciliation

Dr. David Anderson Hooker and Dr. Elizabeth Corrie speak on teaching peace-making and reconciliation to youth.
