Materials Checklist

Gather

  • Begin with a check in with members
  • Read the focal scripture with each person reading a few verses
  • Open with prayer

Engage

Exercise 1: Write A Group Covenant

  • Based on the number of participants, have the youth break up into smaller groups where they create a group covenant.
  • In writing the covenant, they should consider the following what are expectations they have for each other? What are some things they would like to happen?
  • After a few minutes bring them back and have each group share their covenant as they are comfortable.
  • Use the individual covenants to create one for the entire group.
  • Write it down on a white board/paper and hang it up where everyone can see.

Exercise 2:

Watch together “What’s the Secret to a Happy Marriage?”

 

Reflect

Together Discuss the Following Questions:

  • What does it mean for you to be in a “covenant” or “an agreement” with God? What does it look like? Are there terms or expectations?
  • Do we need to have an agreement with God? Does God need an agreement with us? Which way does it go?
  • Do the agreements between God and humans change over time? Use an example from a Biblical story, or your own experience.
