Is a love of self or lack thereof something that conflicts with love of neighbor (ie. I am treating my neighbor how I treat myself. .with no compassion, on a value based system)?
Do I need my neighbor to love me before I can love them?
What would it take for you to trust that someone that doesn’t look like you actually loves you?
What is the pastor’s role? What would it take for you to engage and be vulnerable with white Christians?
Questions for Reflection for a Predominately White Youth Group:
What does it mean to love our neighbors as ourselves? Particularly the neighbors who do not look the same way we do? Why might this be important?
What kind of love of neighbor is possible? What are the roadblocks?
Is loving one’s neighbor something that happens overnight, or is it a journey?
