Carter and Schoen assert that self-compassion is essential for this work, such that it becomes a tool for dehumanization of other people. What about this work is easy? What are the challenges implicit in this work?
Carter references “difficult others” in his discussion of Harold (who was discussed in the seminar from which this clip is taken). Who are the difficult others, to whom we are called to be compassionate? Who are those people in our church, in our lives, and in our world?
