The Trauma of Structural Racism, Christopher Carter and Seth Schoen – Video and Discussion Questions
Rev. Dr. Christopher Carter and Dr. Seth Schoen discuss the trauma of structural racism.
Questions for Discussion:
How might we tend to the youth in our midst who have been targeted, both specifically and structurally, by the racism that is inherent in our culture?
In what ways are we asking our youth to conform to whiteness, perhaps without even realizing it?
How can we acknowledge and name the racism that is present? What would that look like?
How might we help our youth—especially our youth of color—name and claim their worthiness and belovedness as a child created in the image of God?
How might we engage in conversations about restorative justice with our young people, including conversations about reparations?
